Commercial Basketball Court Construction in Wyoming and Colorado

Building a basketball court for public or commercial use requires a higher standard of engineering than a residential project. High traffic, safety liability, and strict municipal codes demand a partner who understands the science of sports construction.

Court Builders of the Rockies is the leading design-build contractor for commercial athletic facilities in the Bay Area and Central Valley. As a Class A Licensed General Engineering Contractor, we provide a true turnkey solution—handling everything from site excavation and drainage to the installation of championship-level surfaces and equipment.

Outdoor Commercial Courts (Parks & Schools)

We build courts designed to withstand the abuse of 24/7 public play and Wyoming and Colorado’s wet winters.

1. Post-Tension Concrete Foundations

For commercial longevity, we exclusively recommend post-tension concrete. Unlike asphalt, which oxidizes and cracks within a few years, post-tension slabs are reinforced with steel cables. This creates a monolithic base that resists settling, heaving, and structural cracking for decades—minimizing liability for schools and cities.

2. High-Performance Modular Surfacing

Replace your high-maintenance painted concrete with our advanced suspended modular tiles.

    • Safety: The tiles offer vertical shock absorption and “lateral forgiveness,” protecting athlete’s joints and reducing injuries from falls.
    • Durability: UV-stabilized materials resist fading even under the intense summer sun.
    • Low Maintenance: The open-grid design allows water and dirt to drain through, keeping the surface cleaner and drier than traditional hardscapes.

3. Cushioned Acrylic Systems

For facilities preferring a traditional hard-court feel (like tennis/basketball combos), we apply multi-layer cushioned acrylic coatings. These systems contain rubber granules to dampen shock while providing the consistent ball bounce required for competitive play.

What About Indoor Gymnasium Flooring?

Upgrade your gymnasium, church hall, or recreation center without the massive cost of traditional hardwood. We specialize in synthetic flooring retrofits that can often be installed directly over old VCT tile or aging concrete.

1. Synthetic Wood-Look Flooring

Get the aesthetic of a classic maple court with the durability of a modern polymer.

    • Water Resistant: Unlike real wood, our surfaces will not warp or rot if exposed to moisture or plumbing leaks.
    • Cost Effective: Eliminates the need for annual sanding, screening, and refinishing. A simple damp mop keeps the court competition-ready.
    • Multi-Sport Versatility: High-gloss finishes provide the traction needed for basketball while being durable enough for school assemblies, tables, and chairs.

2. Commercial Rubber Flooring

For weight rooms and field houses, we install heavy-duty vulcanized rubber flooring.

    • Impact Protection: Protects your subfloor from dropped weights and heavy equipment.
    • Sound Dampening: Significantly reduces noise in multi-story buildings or shared commercial spaces.

What Is The “Court Builder” Advantage

Most paving contractors treat a court like a parking lot. We treat it like a performance instrument.

    • Slope & Drainage Engineering: We laser-grade every site to ensure water flows away from the court, preventing “birdbaths” (puddles) that ruin playability.
    • Turnkey Equipment: We supply and install heavy-duty, commercial-grade hoop systems (glass or steel), bleachers, containment fencing, and LED lighting.
    • Custom Branding: We can embed school mascots, corporate logos, and custom color schemes directly into the floor design for a professional, branded look.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How much does a commercial basketball court cost?

A: Commercial projects vary widely based on site conditions, but a full-size outdoor court with a post-tension base generally ranges from $60,000 to $100,000+. Indoor retrofits are priced per square foot. We provide detailed, line-item estimates after a site feasibility study.

Q: Can you resurface an existing cracked asphalt court?

A: Yes. If the cracking is structural, we can install a suspended modular surface directly over the old asphalt. This “bridges” the cracks, providing a brand-new playing surface without the expense of demolishing and repouring the concrete.

Q: Is synthetic gym flooring approved for high school competition?

A: Yes. Our high-performance indoor systems meet or exceed the friction and ball-bounce standards set by major athletic governing bodies (NCAA, volleyball associations) and are used in championship tournaments worldwide.

Q: How long does construction take?

A: An outdoor court build typically takes 4-6 weeks (from excavation to stripe painting), depending on concrete curing time. Indoor flooring retrofits are much faster, often completed in 3-5 days, minimizing downtime for your facility.

What Our Customers Say About Us:

“When an agent secures a listing on a home with a Game Court in it, I know they will have a much easier time finding a buyer for that house than a similar home with a swimming pool.”

– J.B. Goodwin, CEO/Broker, JBGoodwin Company

“I wanted to let you know how much we love our Game Court. At least one of our three kids uses it every day. I promise I’m not exaggerating – we use it every day.”

– Cindy and Lamar Slay

“The first night the court was completed, our entire family had a blast playing tennis and basketball and we realized how much ‘together time’ we had been missing.”

– Mac Pfeiffer

“My ability to continue to play through the joint pain, after so many years on concrete, was reaching the point of no return. Game Court gave me a second chance; and I am able even now at 65 to play two hours with no problems of any kind.”

– Howard Rubin

“I am writing to tell you how much our Game Court has meant to my family over the 14 years that we have had it. I have two boys, who early on, used the Game Court to learn to ride tricycles and bikes because we live on a steep hill and this provided the only flat surface. They learned to hit the baseball off a tee and to catch. Eventually, they learned to shoot baskets. They each have been excellent three-point shooters attributable solely to many hours they spent on the court.”

– Donde L. Plowman
