The Premier Commercial Pickleball Construction For Wyoming and Colorado & Nevada

Pickleball is no longer just a trend; it is the most requested amenity in real estate development today. For facility managers and HOA boards, the challenge is not just building a court—it’s building a facility that withstands 12+ hours of daily play while minimizing liability and maintenance costs.

Court Builders of the Rockies is the region’s premier partner for large-scale pickleball projects. As the only ASBA Certified Court Builder and Class A Licensed General Engineering Contractor in the area, we deliver championship-level facilities that protect your investment and your players.

Engineered for High-Traffic Facilities

Building for the public is different than building for a backyard. We prioritize structural longevity and risk mitigation in every commercial design.

1. Post-Tension Concrete (The Commercial Standard)

We do not recommend asphalt for commercial facilities. Asphalt oxidizes, cracks, and requires costly resurfacing every 4-6 years.

    • The Solution: We pour Post-Tension Concrete slabs reinforced with steel cables. This creates a monolithic, crack-resistant foundation guaranteed to resist the heavy settling and soil movement common in the Bay Area and Central Valley.
    • The ROI: A post-tension court can last 20+ years without structural failure, saving your HOA or city tens of thousands in long-term capital expenditures.

2. Noise Mitigation Strategies

The #1 barrier to new courts is noise complaints. We help you navigate this with:

    • Acoustical Fencing: Specialized barrier fabrics that block up to 50% of game noise.
    • Sound-Dampening Surfaces: Our cushioned surfacing options reduce the “pop” frequency of the ball impact.

What Are Premium Surfacing Options?

We offer three distinct surfacing categories tailored to your facility’s budget and performance needs.

1. High-Traffic Modular Tiles (Lowest Maintenance)

Best for: Public Parks, Unsupervised HOA Courts, Schools

    • Durability: Engineered to withstand vandalism, heavy foot traffic, and harsh UV exposure.
    • Safety: Features “Lateral Forgiveness™” to reduce joint strain and liability from slip-and-fall accidents.
    • Rain-Ready: Self-draining design allows for play immediately after rain, maximizing court rental hours.

2. ProCushion™ & CushionX™ Acrylics (The Club Standard)

Best for: Private Clubs, Tennis-to-Pickleball Conversions, Active Adult Communities

    • Performance: A premium, multi-layer liquid acrylic system applied over a rubberized mat. It provides the true ball bounce of a hard court with significant force reduction for older players’ joints.
    • Crack Bridging: The rubber mat layer helps bridge minor substrate cracks, extending the life of older concrete bases.

3. Standard Hard-Court Acrylics

Best for: Budget-Conscious Municipal Projects

    • Tournament Ready: Multi-coat acrylic surfaces with textured silica sand for precise traction, applied directly to new post-tension concrete.

Facility Upgrades & Conversions

Don’t let unused tennis courts waste valuable land. We can convert one tennis court into four regulation pickleball courts.

    • Permanent Conversion: We remove old net posts, install new sleeves, resurface the slab, and install permanent dividers for a dedicated “Pickleball Complex” feel.
    • Shared-Use Hybrid: We can overlay pickleball lines on an existing tennis court using “blended lines” (a slightly darker shade) to keep the court usable for both sports.

Lighting & Fencing

    • LED Stadium Lighting: High-efficiency, “Dark Sky” compliant fixtures that allow for revenue-generating night play without polluting the neighborhood with light spill.
    • Commercial Fencing: Heavy-gauge, vinyl-coated chain link that resists rust and bending.

Pickleball Court built for ProLogis Campus in San Mateo, CA

3 Custom pickleball courts were the heartbeat of this design for the ProLogis campus in Tracy. This area is in a high wind zone, so we had to engineer the fencing to support heavy wind loads on the fence and the windscreens. The 3 pickleball courts have our cushioned acrylic Cushion X / Pro Cushion rubber mat system, and were painted with flexible acrylic coatings from Plexipave. The colors were all custom made to match the pantone colors of the ProLogis logo.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How many pickleball courts fit on a tennis court?

A: You can comfortably fit four standard pickleball courts (20’ x 44’) on the footprint of one regulation tennis court (60’ x 120’), utilizing the existing lighting and fencing infrastructure.

Q: What is the maintenance cost for a commercial court?

A: It depends on the surface. Modular tile courts are virtually zero-maintenance (annual power wash). Acrylic courts typically require resurfacing every 5-7 years depending on foot traffic, which should be factored into your HOA reserve study.

Q: Do you handle ADA compliance?

A: Yes. All commercial public facilities must meet ADA accessibility standards. We design accessible pathways, gate entries, and spectator viewing areas to ensure your facility is compliant with federal and California state laws.

Q: Can you help with court layouts and permits?

A: Yes. As a General Engineering Contractor, we handle the entire feasibility phase—including city setback requirements, impervious coverage calculations, and permitting—taking the burden off your board or committee.

What Our Customers Say About Us:

“When an agent secures a listing on a home with a Game Court in it, I know they will have a much easier time finding a buyer for that house than a similar home with a swimming pool.”

– J.B. Goodwin, CEO/Broker, JBGoodwin Company

“I wanted to let you know how much we love our Game Court. At least one of our three kids uses it every day. I promise I’m not exaggerating – we use it every day.”

– Cindy and Lamar Slay

“The first night the court was completed, our entire family had a blast playing tennis and basketball and we realized how much ‘together time’ we had been missing.”

– Mac Pfeiffer

“My ability to continue to play through the joint pain, after so many years on concrete, was reaching the point of no return. Game Court gave me a second chance; and I am able even now at 65 to play two hours with no problems of any kind.”

– Howard Rubin

“I am writing to tell you how much our Game Court has meant to my family over the 14 years that we have had it. I have two boys, who early on, used the Game Court to learn to ride tricycles and bikes because we live on a steep hill and this provided the only flat surface. They learned to hit the baseball off a tee and to catch. Eventually, they learned to shoot baskets. They each have been excellent three-point shooters attributable solely to many hours they spent on the court.”

– Donde L. Plowman
