Why Trust Court Builders of the Rockies?
Investing in your property requires more than a contractor—it demands a specialist. As a member of ASBA (America Sports Builders Association), Court Builders of America Certified Court Builder, and Racquet Sports Industry Association 2025 Tennis Court Builder / Contractor of the Year, Court Builders of the Rockies stands alone in experience and expertise.
We back this elite designation with our status as a Class A Licensed General Engineering Contractor. This dual qualification means we do far more than install surfaces; we master the complex engineering, soil mechanics, and drainage necessary to create a facility that withstands the test of time. From the first grade of the land to the final game line, trust your vision to Wyoming and Colorado’s highest-rated construction team.
Why Limit Your Backyard to Just One Sport?
Why settle for just a basketball hoop when you can have a complete athletic center? Our multi-game systems are designed to maximize every square foot of your yard, giving you the freedom to play whatever you want, whenever you want.
-
-
Versatility: Why choose? You can go from sinking 3-pointers to serving a pickleball match in just seconds. Our adjustable nets and clear line markings make it incredibly easy to switch games instantly.
-
Safety First: We care about your long-term health. Unlike hard concrete, our specialized suspended tile surface provides vertical shock absorption. This “give” significantly reduces impact on your knees and joints and lowers the risk of concussions.
-
Built for the Rockies: We know the weather here is tough. That’s why our system is engineered specifically for the Wyoming and Colorado climate. Our UV-stable tiles are built to resist fading, warping, and cracking, no matter how harsh the seasons get.
-
Your Custom Look: Make it yours. Whether you want to match your home’s landscaping or show off your favorite pro team’s colors, we can customize a design that looks as good as it plays.

Residential Athletic Surfacing & Restoration
What is Athletic Surfacing?
Simply put, athletic surfacing is the specialized performance layer we install over your existing concrete or asphalt.
-
-
Vertical Cushioning: The surface compresses slightly under your weight. This absorbs impact energy, saving your knees and back from the jarring shock of a hard landing.
-
Lateral Forgiveness: This technology allows the surface to shift slightly side-to-side. It prevents your foot from “locking” in place during quick cuts and pivots, significantly reducing the strain on your ankles.
-
Court Restoration: Don’t Demolish, Revive.
Stuck with an ugly, gray concrete pad or an old, faded sport court? The good news is you rarely need to tear it out.
-
-
The Issue: Old concrete pads eventually crack, settle, and become unsafe trip hazards (and eyesores).
-
The Fix: We can usually resurface right over your existing slab. Our modular tiles are designed to bridge small cracks and hide imperfections. It’s the fastest, most cost-effective way to turn a backyard eyesore into a vibrant, professional-grade game court without the mess of demolition.
-
Our Court Technology & Surfacing Systems
From modular safety tiles to premium cushioned acrylics—we have the right surface for your game.
We offer two distinct categories of surfacing: Modular Tile Systems (for versatility and safety) and Cushioned Acrylic Systems (for true-bounce performance).
- Modular Tiles
-
- Court Builders Multiuse: Our #1 seller for families. Features Lateral Forgiveness™ to protect children’s knees and ankles during multi-sport play.
- Court Builders Pickleball: The official surface of USA Pickleball. Engineered with a specialized friction surface that mimics a hard court but plays safer.
- Cushioned Acrylic Systems (The “Pro” Feel)
-
- Mapecoat – 5mm: A premium, multi-layered liquid acrylic system. It contains rubber granules that provide “force reduction,” meaning less fatigue on your legs during long tennis or pickleball matches. It looks like a hard court but feels significantly softer.
- Mapecoat – 8mm: The ultimate shock-absorbing surface for Pickleball. This system uses a prefabricated 4mm rubber mat adhered to the base, topped with acrylic color. It offers superior energy return and sound dampening compared to standard concrete.
- The “Green” Base Solution
-
- Ultrabase: Don’t want to pour concrete? This 100% recycled thermoplastic sub-base replaces the need for a concrete slab. It is permeable (eco-friendly drainage) and reduces impact better than rigid concrete.
Custom Colors & Logos
Make it yours. Mix and match colors to design a court that matches your home or your favorite pro team. We can even embed custom logos directly into the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I fit a multi-game court in a small backyard?
A: Yes. We design courts for spaces of all sizes. A typical half-court (30’ x 30’) is sufficient for basketball and short-court tennis, while a 30’ x 60’ space can accommodate a full pickleball court and half-court basketball.
Q: What sports can be played on a single court?
A: Our multi-game surfaces are optimized for:
-
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Futsal (Soccer)
- Hopscotch/ shuffleboard
- Padel
- Pickleball
- Roller Hockey
- Tennis
- Volleyball
Q: How much maintenance does a backyard game court require?
A: Very little. Unlike asphalt, which requires resealing, our modular tiles are self-draining and crack-resistant. Maintenance usually involves a simple rinse with a hose or clearing debris with a leaf blower.
